Fading Lights

"Did you ever asked yourself how those dark creatures came to our world?" His blue, nearly grey eyes were looking softly down at her.
"No, father.. I've never." She answered him with a whispering voice.
"Well then.. I once told you and your brother about the legend of our world, didn't I?" She nodded. "But I can't remember all of it anymore."
"Alright. It all started with light and darkness, two spirits representating this energies. Two brothers which couldn't be any more diffrent. The white one was called Ephastria. He was always searching for the light and some also say he's the reason for everything you could call good minded. Well but his opposite his dark brother Mingol saw the whole thing with diffrent eyes. Mingol was always the one who tried to darken the brightnes of his brother, who tried to get the whole might for himself. Although those things, they couldn't live without each other, because if there is no light, the shadow can't exist, too."
Minesh was still looking up to her father. "I..I think I can remember this part." He smiled fatherly "Good, so can you remember the rest of the story?" Minesh rolled her olive green eyes while thinking about it. "Hmm.. sadly not really." Her father sighted slightly. " Okay then we'll just go on with the story. One day, way back in time, the brothers decided to create our once so beautiful world. There are people out there who say they did just out of boredom but I myself think they did because they wanted to create something useful with their powers. Together they created day and night, they created the other spirits which are in charge of the other elements such as water and earth but also the spirits which are known as guards of our forests, fields and treasures. Everything grew and bloomed in a perfect harmony but somehow it came that Mingol, the dark brother changed his mind about their idea of the perfect world. However, the stories tell that he started to revitalize the dead creatures... but with the habbits which he wanted them to have. Out of dead Mavalas he created the Navesta.. of course not all of the Navestas are related to us. There are also those we call halfspirits which are direct descendants of Mingol but there aren't many of them."
Minesh opened her eyes shocked " Is this really true?", she asked with a shaking voice. Her father squinted his eyes a bit. "Minesh.. nobody will ever be able to tell you if this stories are true or not. I guess not even Ephastria himself would be able for that." He took a loudly breath. "Shall I go on?" His daughter nodded silent.
"So besides the Navesta he also created the Rasula, for example, and all the other creatures of the night we know so far. Ephastria didn't got to know about this. If he would have he probably would have ancitipated it. So, Mingol got megalomaniac with this and it was nearly to late when Ephastria noticed it. He tried to protect himself with giving his light to some of the living creatures in Lambadria. Ah do you know one of them by the way?"
Minesh snorted slowly. "Hmm... the Israia maybe?"
"Good. Seems like you payed even a bit attention to my stories." She smiled, feeling a bit ashamed.
"Ah were did we break off? Oh I know again. So Ephastria tried to protect his and his brother's world but sadly Mingol beated him down and brought the night over the land. Even though he would like to have darken it all, he knew that Lambadria would die if he did. So he decided to let a bit of his brothers light stay but Ephastria was chased away, beaten and broken. He left his followers behind in the dark and that was the day our world broke appart. And that's the reason why there are so many dangers out there today and why we'll never be able to feel safe again."
"What happened to Ephastria then, father?"
"oh sweetheart... nobody knows where he went. Some of the spirit voices are whispering that he found another world to live.. where he build up his own perfect idea of live. They also say that he build a bridge between his new world and our Lambadria, to make it possible for his followers and those who believe in a better live to leave this horrible place. But no one is able to tell you were this portal is supposed to be and of course this story could also be a rumor, nobody knows..."
He softly kissed his daughters forehead.

"We can only hope that he'll find his way back to us one day..."
